MOT Bays & ATL Bays
GEMCO Equipment Ltd has had over thirty years experience in providing MOT bays for independent garages, franchised dealers and fast-fits throughout the UK. Indeed since 2005, when the ATL (Automated Test Lane) and OPTL (One Person Test Lane) test lane concepts were introduced by VOSA, GEMCO have supplied and installed more than any other UK garage equipment supplier. As well as providing hundreds of lanes for the largest UK fast-fit they have also supplied to many other outlets class 4 and 7 bays. GEMCO can also provide equipment to suit classes 1 and 2 for motorcycle application.
From start to finish GEMCO have the experience and expertise required to assist your new or upgraded application for MOT purposes. We provide a professional service from start to completion - site survey by qualified MOT bay surveyor and drawings from our CAD office to support your VOSA application. We can advise on any building or electrical requirements or actually carry out these works using our approved contractors. Fully qualified personnel carry out all installations of MOT bays and all necessary certification is of course provided to satisfy VOSA's requirements.
When it comes to supply of MOT bays GEMCO are unrivalled. From their huge logistics centre near J15 of the M1 they offer weekly delivery of garage equipment to all parts of the UK. Your MOT/ATL bay can be delivered from the vast stocks normally within one week! All deliveries are made with vehicles with suitable off-loading equipment.
GEMCO supply top quality brands such as Stenhoj, BM Autoteknik, Omitec, Crypton, Bradbury and Dunlop for your MOT bay and ATL bay. Also we are able to offer special lifts to suit existing recesses so that the garage avoids costly civil works. GEMCO can of course supply both 4 post and scissor lifts for the ATL bay. A favourite now for class 7 bays is the Stenhoj 6 metre platform 5.2 tonne ATL lift as this lift has the longest platforms and suits the longest of LWB vans. All Stenhoj lifts are fitted with pneumatic play detectors, which are recognised to be superior to hydraulic versions as fitted to many other inferior lifts on the market. The BM brake testers are operated by PDA often in conjunction with the gas analyser and this technology has proved to be excellent for the MOT Test station.
So when it comes to choosing your MOT Bay or ATL Bay choose GEMCO the no 1 supplier in the UK!
MOT Bay, OPTL Bay or ATL Bay?
ATL Bays were introduced by VOSA in 2005. Existing MOT Stations could then simultaneously upgrade their equipment and reduce their labour costs by using one person (OPTL). The additional equipment required was a lift or pit with play detector, pedal depressor and a pair of mirrors.
All new MOT applications wishing to One Person Test are now required to go full ATL. This also includes a computerised brake tester with weigh scales in addition to the items required for OPTL. Traditional 2 person MOT testing with the appropriate equipment continues, and new sites may still apply for this.
