We’re proud to announce that we have achieved the Planet Mark Business Certification, furthering our commitment to reducing our environmental impact on our planet and community. This is an incredible achievement involving the entire business.
The Planet Mark Business Certification is an internationally recognised sustainability certification for all organisations acknowledging continuous progress, encouraging action and building an empowered community of like-minded individuals.
In order to achieve this sustainability certification, we’ve followed a robust three-step process: measuring our impact, engaging everyone in the business and communicating our progress.
We have measured our carbon footprint and we have a total carbon footprint of 1,238.1 tCO2. Moreover, we will continue to take action on reducing our carbon emissions leaving a positive impact on our planet and society. We aim to achieve this by meeting a target of a 5% reduction in carbon by 2024. This contributes directly to the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) which include some of the following:
- Climate action
- Life on land
- Affordable and clean energy
- Sustainable cities and communities
Through Planet Mark, we are proud to have protected 151,149 acres of endangered rainforest with Cool Earth – a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation; keeping 22,337,002 trees standing and storing 9,192,043 tonnes of carbon. Our pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
Our entire business has contributed to our achievement of becoming Planet Mark certified, and every individual will continue to play an important role in our sustainability commitment. To support this, key members of staff have attended and participated in the sustainability energiser, coming up with sustainable solutions thus taking responsibility for our impact on the planet and it’s people. Furthermore, we are looking into various sustainable solutions such as food waste management options, less use of paper across the departments, processes and systems and becoming more energy efficient to name a few.
We want to continue to have a positive impact through our business and hope that we can empower our community to take climate action as we believe that it’s important, more than ever, to do more good in order to create a better, brighter and more sustainable future.
